Roddickton Location: NL Operator: Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro Configuration: 1 X 5 MW Operation: 1989 (ret 1996) Fuel: wood Boiler supplier: ?? T/G supplier: Peter Brotherhood EPC: SNC-Lavalin Quick Facts: Roddickton was Nefoundland's only biomass power plant and provided primary power to the communities of St Anthony, Main Brook and Roddickton. The plant became uneconomic when a new tie-line was connected to the region and was closed in Sep 1996. In Mar 2007, the site was acquired via long-term lease from Nalcor Energy by a local forest products company. It will be partially reused for a new pellet plant. Senneterre Location: QC Operator: Boralex Configuration: 1 X 34.6 MW CHP Operation: 2002 Fuel: wood Boiler supplier: ANN T/G supplier: MHI, Melco EPC: GENIVAR Quick Facts: Senneterre in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region was originaly developed by Indeck Energy Services and implemented by Boralex Power Income Fund. Fuel burn is about 400,000 tpy and about 230 GWH/yr is sold to Hydro-Quebec. The project cost C$60mn and is in intermittent operation due to fuel-supply issues.
