Quick facts: In July 2006, Chubu Electric Power Co said it was investing in two new biopower projects in Sabah with Go Bio Sdn Bhd,
SMEC Energy Sdn Bhd, and Agritech Marketing Co Ltd. Local AmBank provided debt finance for the projects, which each cost about $24mn.
Fuel is POW and the projects have PPAs with Sabah Electricity delivered. Kina,
the first of the two projects to complete, is connected to the Sabah Main Intake Substation in Sandaklan
through a 0.5km transmission line.

SA. Dalkia financed design and construction and will operate the plant for
15yrs. Exhaust steam is used for wood drying. The EPC contract was worth
$21mn and plant engineering started in Aug 2008. The project was turned
over on 18 Dec 2009 and is securing CDM status.
