Quick facts: Construction started in May 2005 and first power was produced
eight months later. Development was facilitated by Germany's renewable
energy law Erneuerbare-Energien-Gesetz (EEG). German Chancellor Dr Angela
Merkel opened the plant, which is operated by Stadtwerke Baden-Baden, the
local multiutility which owns a small percentage of the project company.

Quick facts: In Jan 2003, equipment was ordered for this biomass power
station in Delitzsch, north of Leipzig . The €45mn project was
connected to the grid in Jun 2005 and will generate 150,000 MWh per year
from 140,000 tons of biomass, mainly wood. The operator is a joint venture
of E.ON Thuringer Energie, the local municipality, and E.ON Energy
Projects. Alstom also supplied a baghouse, dry scrubber, and SNCR system

which is supplemented with a wide range of other waste wood products including MDF-granulate,
sander dust with very high N content, sawmill residue, and composted wood with up to 25% ash.

The operating company is a joint venture of STEAG Saar Energie and
REMONDIS and the power station is located at REMONDIS’ 230haLippewerk
site, Europe’s largest recycling center. The Lippewerk wood handling plant
will handle preparation of
135,000 tpy of
waste wood such as pallets, furniture, and window frames by milling it and removing metallic material. The prepared fuel is sent to the stoker-fired furnace via a 180m conveyor
belt.
