Quick facts: This is India's first biomass power plant with advanced steam
conditions of 105 ATA/525C. The main fuel
is Juliflora supplemented with pulse stalk, cotton stalk, cane trash, and
coconut shells with a requirement of about 1.50 lakh tpa. Commercial
operation was in May 2006 and the plant is running at 75% PLF. All
output is sold to Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) under a 15yr PPA.
The project cost Rs 71.91 crore. Ireda Ltd and other banks extended a term
loan of Rs 50.34 crore and MNRE provided an interest subsidy of Rs 1.83
crore. The air-cooled condenser system came from China.
