Quick facts: This facility is in Bang Mun Nak District, Pichit Province, and went commercial on 21 Dec 2005. The plant burns about 150,000 tpy of rice husk and has a 25 yr PPA with EGAT under Thailand's Small Power Producer (SPP) program. The plant cost about 1,400mn Baht. The McBurney suspension firing system was the first-ever installation for a rice-husk fueled power plant. Project investors include Chubu Electric Power Co, Al Tayyar Energy, Private Energy Market Fund, Finnish Fund for Industrial Cooperation, Flagship Asia Corp, and Rolls-Royce Power Ventures. The plant received financial support of 900mn Baht from TMB Bank and Siam City Bank.

Quick facts: This plant was commissioned in Jan 2007. The SPP cost THB 550mn and took 2yrs to build. The plant fuel is about 85,000 tpy of rice husk supplied by farmers within a 30km radius of the plant site. MGP is the first large-scale, rice husk-based power plant project developed, invested, implemented, operated and maintained exclusively by a group of local rice millers and has a 21yr PPA contract with EGAT. The plant is directly connected to PEA’s 22kV grid The owners invested THB 150mn while THB 400mn was loaned by Bankthai Public Co Ltd and the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE).
