Hadjret En-Nouss Location: Tipaza Operator: Sharikat Kahraba Hadjret En-Nouss Configuration: 3 X 420 MW single-shaft CCGT blocks with 9001FB gas turbines Operation: 2009 Fuel: natural gas HRSG supplier: Doosan T/G supplier: GE EPC: SNC, Sandwell, Groupe SCV Quick facts: In Nov 2006, GE Energy announced the sale of three 109FB single-shaft CCGT blocks for the Hadjret En-Nouss plant sited 100km west of Algiers. Project company SKH is owned 49% by a consortium of Sonatrach, Sonelgaz and AEC and 51% by Algerian Utilities International Ltd, a joint venture between SNC-Lavalin and Mubadala. GE also will provide 20yrs of maintenance support under a LTSA with SNC, which also has the responsibility to operate and maintain the plant. SKH has a 20yr take-or-pay PPA with Sonelgaz. Hamma Phase II Location: Alger Operator: Sonelgaz Production de l’Electricite Configuration: 2 x 209 MW V94.3A1 Operation: 2002 Fuel: natural gas, diesel oil T/G supplier: Siemens, Ansaldo EPC: Fichtner, Ansaldo Quick facts: This $277mn plant was originally planned as an IPP, but was instead built by SPE. The Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development made a $98mn loan for the project in May 1999. Other lenders include the Islamic Development Bank ($205mn) and Societe Generale which provided $24mn in lira. The design allows for future conversion to combined-cycle operation. Kahrama Location: Oran Operator: Algerian Energy Co Configuration: 3 X 106 MW 9001E gas turbines, desal Operation: 2005 Fuel: natural gas T/G supplier: GE, Elin EPC: IHI, Itochu, Jurong Engineering Quick facts: Kahrama is Algeria’s first independent water and power project (IWPP) and is capable of producing 86,880m³/day of potable water in addition to electricity. The $400mn plant has 25yr electricity and water PPAs with Sonelgas and Sonatrach. The project was partly financed by Coface and Japan Bank for International Cooperation with the balance from AEC. Skikda Location: Skikda Operator: Shariket Kahraba Skikda (SKS) Configuration: 2 X 440-MW 1+1 CCGT blocks with 9001FA gas turbines Operation: 2005-2006 Fuel: natural gas, oil HRSG supplier: Alstom T/G supplier: GE, Alstom EPC: SNC, INERGA, Eurl Kraytem Quick facts: In Jul 2003, SNC-Lavalin was awarded contracts by SKS, an Algerian Energy affiliate, for construction and operation of this CCGT plant. SNC-Lavalin Capital structured the required financing and SNC-Lavalin also has a 12yr contract for plant O&M. In Dec 2003, the U.S. Export-Import Bank approved a $192mn, long-term loan guarantee to support construction of the Skikda project.
