Mymensingh Location: Dhaka Operator: Rural Power Co Ltd Configuration: 210-MW, 4+1 CCGT with 6001B gas turbines Fuel: natural gas Operation: 1999-2007 HRSG supplier: SFL T/G supplier: EGT, GEC-Alstom, Siemens EPC: Lahmeyer, Mitsui, Siemens Quick facts: RPC was formed in 1994 by Rural Electrification Board (REB) and five rural electric coops (Palli Biddyut Samites, or PBS) namely Dhaka PBS-1, Tangail PBS, Comilla PBS-1, Narsingdi PBS-1 and Moulvibazar PBS with assistance from the Asian Development Bank. In 1990, Japan Consulting Institute completed a feasibility study for development of a BOO gas-fired power station in the Mymensingh area. ADB expressed its willingness finance 70% of the cost for the first pair of GTs. Siddhirganj Location: Dhaka Operator: Electricity Generation Co of Bangladesh Configuration: 2 X 120-MW 9001E gas turbines Fuel: natural gas Operation: 2010 T/G supplier: BHEL EPC: BHEL Quick facts: Construction on the Siddhirganj peaking project started in 2006 and the first machine was inaugurated by the Bangladeshi Prime Minister on 14 Feb 2010. Unit-2 began test runs on 26 May 2010. The new units wee built on the existing Siddhirganj power station site on the Shitalakhya River. The project was funded by the Asian Development Bank.
