Taiyanggong

Quick facts: In Oct 2005, Beijing Development & Reform Commission approved construction of the Taiyanggong trigeneration CCGT project owned by Beijing Energy Investment Holding and SP Power Development Co. The site is in Chaoyang District and supplies about 3,300 GWh/yr to the local grid plus heating and cooling services for about 40km² of the Beijing metro area. Plant completion allowed for the removal of about 80 heating boilers. The gas turbines completed in Dec 2007 and Jan 2008, respectively, and the steam-electric component went online in Jul 2008. GE secured a 10yr contractual services agreement (CSA) with the plant operator. At completion, this was considered the largest plant of its kind in the world.

take advantage of natural gas being flared at the Tianjan Bohai
Oilfield. The plant is invested by China Guodian and
Tianjin TEDA Investment Holding Co.
Construction started in Sep 1998 and operation was in Jan 2000. This was
North China's first gas-fired CCGT.
