Machala Location: Cotopaxi Operator: Noble Energy Configuration: 2 X 65 MW 6001FA gas turbines Fuel: natural gas Operation: 2002 T/G supplier: GE EPC: Washington Group International, Santos CMI, Cointec Quick facts: This plant near Guayaquil is fueled by gas from the Amistad offshore gas field. The gas-by-wire power plant is planned for eventual conversion to combined-cycle operation. The 14.5ha site is in Baja Alto, about 2km from the coast, and is connected to the gas production works by a 70km pipeline. Manta Miraflores Location: Miraflores Operator: CELEC Termopichincha Configuration: 1 X 22.8 TM-2500 gas turbine Fuel: diesel oil Operation: 2009 T/G supplier: GE EPC: SANTOS CMI Quick facts: This was part of an emergency generation project. The gas turbine was flown to Ecuador from Houston via Antonov AN 124 in Dec 2009 and installed immediately in Manta.

Pascuales-II Location: Guayas Operator: CELEC Termopichincha Configuration: 6 X 22.8 TM-2500 gas turbine Fuel: diesel oil Operation: 2010 T/G supplier: GE EPC: SANTOS CMI Quick facts: This project comprised the balance of a CELEC order to GE for seven gas turbines for emergency generation. All machines were installed and operating with 2mos. The Pascuales-II project cost about $190mn, of which $117mn was for the equipment

Santa Rosa Location: Pichincha Operator: CELEC Termopichincha Configuration: 3 X 17 5001PTG gas turbines Fuel: diesel oil Operation: 1981 T/G supplier: AEG Quick facts: Santa Rosa went commercial in Mar 1981. The site is in Cutuglahua outside Quitro. Two machines act as synchronous generators delivering reactive power to the SNI.
