Quick facts: In 2003, work got underway at this
site on the Quchan-Shirvan expressway in north Khorasan. In the first
phase, six gas turbines were completed in 2006/07. Three 150-MW steam sets
are now under construction for service in 2010. In Nov 2005, National
Iranian Gas Co (NIGC) signed a fuel supply contract for the new plant
which, unusually, is designed to use gasoline as an alternate fuel. The
new plant is connected to the grid through a nearby 400/132kV substation.
