Hydrogen Park Location: VE Operator: Enel SpA Configuration: 12-MW PGT10 gas turbine CHP Operation: 2010 Fuel: hydrogen T/G supplier: Nuovo Pignone Quick facts: On 12 July 2010, Enel CEO Fulvio Conti and local dignitaries inaugurated the world’s first industrial-scale, hydrogen-fueled power station at Fusina. Heat from the gas turbine is recovered and sent to the nearby Andrea Palladio coal-fired plant to generate an additional 4 MW of electricity. The Hydrogen Park GT consumes 1.3mt/hr of hydrogen and required an overall construction investment of some €50mn. Hydrogen is secured from the petrochemical facility of Porto Marghera as a by-product of the manufacturing process. The Hydrogen Park consortium formed in 2003 at the initiative of the Venice Industrial Union with about €4mn in support from the Region of Veneto and the Ministry for the Environment.
