Benghazi North Location: Libya Operator:  General Electricity Co of Libya Configuration: 3 x 145 MW GT13E1, 1 X 160 MW GT13E2 gas turbines Operation: 1994-2004 Fuel: natural gas, diesel oil T/G supplier: Alstom EPC: Alstom, ACESCo Quick facts: This site is about 14km north of Benghazi. The plant operated on diesel oil until 2003 when a gas pipeline connection was finished. Since then operated mainly on natural gas. HRSGs along with two 150-MW steam turbines are being added under a Jul 1999, €300mn contract to Daewoo Corp. In Aug 1999, Daewoo obtained guarantees from the Export-Import Bank of Korea and a $48.2mn loan from the Islamic Development Bank for the project. Western Mountain Location: Libya Operator: General Electricity Co of Libya Configuration: 4 X 150 MW V94.2 Operation: 2005-2006 Fuel: natural gas T/G supplier: BHEL EPC: BHEL, ACESCo, Power Mech Projects Ltd Quick facts: A letter of intent for the plant was originally awarded to ENEL and the Italian company then awarded Ansaldo an order for four gas turbines, but the award was never finalized. In 2001, after a 3yr effort, BHEL was awarded the turnkey contract for the facility. This is BHEL's largest overseas project ever and the four GTs are the highest-rated Indian generating sets yet exported. The first machine was shipped in Mar 2004 and was commissioned in Oct 2005 and the plat was finished in Dec 2006. The site is at Al Garbi along a pipeline used for gas export. In Jul 2003, Hyundai got the $283mn order to install six gas turbines at Zawia and a $126mn contract followed in Dec 2004 to add unfired HRSGs and steam sets. It is the largest oil field in the Gulf of Sirte and was the location of the first producing well in Libya.
