Extraction steam is supplied to the associated desalination plant which has 27 Multiple Effect Distillation (MED) units that can supply 800,000m³ of desalinated water to Jubail Industrial City and the Eastern Province. An oil-fired steam plant operates on an adjacent site and shares the tanker terminal for fuel delivery and a multi-stage flash distillation unit for boiler feedwater make-up. On the mechanical side were a 70km fuel pipeline, two deep wells, water and drainage systems, BS generators, fire fighting and ventilation systems, and a full laboratory and workshop. Riyadh-10 Location: Ar Riyad Operator: Saudi Electricity Co Configuration: 40 X 55 MW 7001EA turbines Fuel: crude oil Operation: 2010-2012 T/G supplier: GE EPC: Bemco Quick facts: On 30 Jun 2008 Arabian Bemco was awarded a SR 11bn turnkey contract with SEC for a 2,600 MW power station on an area of 5mn m² outside Riyadh. Phase I comprised 36 baseload simple-cycle base gas turbines firing treated crude oil. On 27 Dec 2010, Bemco was awarded the EPC contract for a 700-MW extension and on 16 Oct 2011, Bemco was contracted to convert the plant to combined cycle by adding 10 STGs, 40 HRSGs and 10 ACCs.
