Quick facts: The Aceca power plant complex is in Villaseca de la Sagra near Toledo, 75km south of Madrid. The site is adjacent to a 220kV substation and natural gas pipeline. Construction started in Jul 2003 and the CCGT block was synchronized in Apr 2005 and commissioned on 1 Jul 2005. Net thermal efficiency (LHV) is 55.9% and the plant is designed for baseload service.

Quick facts: This was only one of a handful of commercially-sized IGCC plants in the world. Although it operated with reasonable reliability, ithe plant was expensive to run and, in Jun 2014, Elcogas announced plans to close the plant. While opposed by labor and some government officials, the plan was reaffirmed in Jun 2016 and Elcogas was permissioned to begin dismantliung the plant in Oct 2016.
