Quick Facts: The Dearborn project was built on a very fast track following a major explosion at the Henry Ford Powerhouse in Feb 1999. The plant supplied steam and electricity throughout the 1,200ac Ford-Rouge Steel complex. Following the blast, the auto assembly line and rolled- steel operations came to a halt for the first time in the history of the 90yr old complex.

Quick facts: Lawrence GS began commercial operation on 1 May  2005 on a 50ac site between Bedford and Mitchell in Lawrence County. The $90mn peaking plant is jointly owned by Hoosier Energy and Wabash Valley Power Association. Construction began in Sep 2003 and required about 350,000 manhours. The plant is connected to the local 161kV grid.

Midland Cogeneration Venture

Quick facts: This is a unique industrial cogeneration project that involved repowering an unused T/G set built for the Midland NPP. Steam and electricity is purchased by Dow Chemical and electricity is sold to MS Energy under a long-term PPA. At completion and for some years thereafter, this was the largest CCGT plant in the world. MCV was originally invested by Consumers Energy (49%), El Paso Corp (38.5%), and Dow Chemical (12.5%). In Mar 2009, EQT Infrastructure and Fortistar signed a definitive agreement to acquire MCV from funds and other entities managed by GSO Capital Partners LP, Rockland Capital Energy, Dow Chemical Co, and other parties.

A black-start diesel genset was installed at Worthington in 2004.

Quick Facts: The Zeeland power station was developed and built by Mirant Corp. In Jan 2007, it was one of six plants sold by Mirant to LS Power Group, for $1.407bn. In Dec 2007, Consumers Energy closed on a $517mn purchase of the Zeeland from LS Power Group after the Michigan Public Service Commission approved the transaction. JP Morgan Securities served as Consumers Energy's financial adviser for the Zeeland plant transaction.
