Quick facts: The Bennett Mountain power plant was built by local developer Mountain View Power and Siemens-Westinghouse. The unit was turned over to Idaho Power following completion of pre-acceptance testing and went into operation in Feb 2005. It is the first U.S. installation of the 501FD3 machine.

Culbertson

Quick facts: This $100mn project is 8mi northeast of Culbertson and comprises Basin Electric's first power plant in Montana. First fire was on 16 Jun, the plant was synchronized on 18 Jun, and a 48hr continuous run at full load was completed in early Jul. The plant was dedicated on 13 Aug 2010. The unit is connected to WAPA's 115kV grid and sited near a compressor station on the Northern Border Pipeline to use natural gas from Basin Electric's subsidiary, Dakota Gasification Co.

Currant Creek

Quick facts: Currant Creek was the first large-scale PacifiCorp project since the early 1980s and cost under $350mn. The gas turbines were released for simple-cycle operation in Jun 2005. They were taken offline in Sep 2005 to complete and tie-in the steam set and the entire plant was declared in-service in Mar 2006. The HRSGs have duct burners from Foreny Corp and are equipped with SCR and an oxidation catalyst.

Quick Facts: Rathdrum Power was built as a JV of Cogentrix Energy and Avista Corp. Work on the $150mn plant began in Mar 2000 and commissioning began in Sep 2001. The plant is operated by NAES and power is sold to BPA. In Feb 2010, Rathdrum attained VPP star status under OSHA's Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP).

Quick Facts: The Glenns Ferry and Rupert cogen plants each consist of a double-ended generator powered at one end by a Solar Turbines Mars 100S gas turbine engine and at the other end by a steam turbine driven through a self actuated clutch. An unfired heat recovery steam generator makes steam which is provided to the thermal host and the steam turbine.  The thermal host in both instances both Idaho Fresh-Pak. At Rupert, the steam supply is at an average rate of 30,000 lbs/hr. The Rupert and Glenns Ferry cogen plants are owned by Crestwood Energy.
