Torino GTT Location: Italy Operator: Gas Turbine Technologies SpA (GTT) Configuration: 1 X 110 kW Fuel: natural gas Operation: 2005 FC supplier: MTU Quick facts: This is a CHP system based on a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) using pipeline gas. Siemens developed the technology in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Energy. Participants in the Italian project include Regione Government Piemonte, Politecnico di Torino, and the Environment Park of Torino. The fuel cell system supplies 20% of the electricity demand of GTT's manufacturing facility and thermal energy for heating and air conditioning. Offpeak, the unit exports power to the municipal grid.
