Pico Vermelho Location: Portugal Operator: Sociedade Geotérmica dos Açores SA Configuration: 1 X 3 MW ST, 10 MW ORC Operation: 1980-2007 T/G supplier: MHI, Melco, Ormat EPC: Ormat Quick facts: Pico Vermelho on San Miguel Island was the first geothermal power plant in the Azores. From 1980-2003, the 3-MW set ran over 130,000hrs and produced 80,9 GWh. In Mar 2007, Ormat completed a 10-MW binary geothermal extension at the site. This cost €35mn and took about 5yrs to build. Verkis and Hitaveita Suournesja were consultants on the project.
