Quick facts:Bagnore-3 is at Mt Amiata in Tuscany. In addition to electricity, the plant provides district heating for the Bagnore and Santa Fiora areas. Steam wells reach 4km, some of the deepest in the world. In 2002, this was the first geothermal plant to be equipped with the AMIS mercury and hydrogen sulfide abatement emission reduction system.

Pico Vermelho

Quick facts: Pico Vermelho on San Miguel Island was the first geothermal power plant in the Azores. From 1980-2003, the 3-MW set ran over 130,000hrs and produced 80,9 GWh. In Mar 2007, Ormat completed a 10-MW binary geothermal extension at the site. This cost €35mn and took about 5yrs to build. Verkis and Hitaveita Suournesja were consultants on the project.
