Voith supplied the turbines with governors, mechanical auxiliaries, steel structures, and lifting equipment. EPC: Orteng Equipamentos e Sistemas, Construtora Quebec Quick facts: In Jan 2007, Cemig Geração e Transmissão and Santa Maria Energética SA formed Hidrelétrica Cachoeirão to invest R$100mn in this small hydro on the Rio Manhuaçu. This is the first completed project under the Minas Gerais small hydro plant program instituted in Nov 2004 . It is connected to the grid at 69kV. Candonga Location: MG Operator: Vale Configuration: 3 X 47 MW Francis Operation: 2004 T/G supplier: VA TECH EPC: Geoprojetos Engenharia, OAS Construtora Quick facts: In May 2001, VA TECH Hydro got its first turnkey award for this power station from owners CVRD and EPP (Energia Eléctrica, Promocao e Participacoes Ltda). The total project cost was about €80mn. VA TECH ENERG supplied hydro mechanical equipment, mechanical auxiliaries, electrical auxiliaries and a 30km, 138kV transmission line to Cemig’s Ponte Nova substation. Capim Branco-I Location: MG Operator: Consórcio Capim Branco Energia Configuration: 3 X 80 MW Francis Operation: 2006 T/G supplier: Voith Siemens EPC: Norberto Odebrecht, Andrade Gutierrez, Queiroz Galvão, Leme Engenharia, Engevix, Intertechne Quick facts: The two-plant complex of Capim Branco I and II on the Rio Araguari cost $466.5mn. CCBE is owned by Cemig (21%), Cia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD) (49%), Suzano Papel e Celulose (18%), and Votorantim Metais (13%). Construction work for Capim Branco I began in September 2003. This plant opertes with a 58m head. As part of the project, the Pau Furado State Park was created in the Capim Branco-I plant area, the first such state park in the Triângulo Mineiro. Irapé Location: MG Operator: Cemig Configuration: 3 X 120 MW Francis Operation: 2006 T/G supplier: Voith, Siemens EPC: Intertechne Consultores, Leme Engenharia, Andrade Gutierrez, Oderbrecht, Hochtief, Voith, Bardella Quick facts: This 208m rockfill, clay-core dam was the tallest in Brazil at completion. Other project construction included two 14m diversion tunnels, the lower one is 1,227m long and has an underground control structure, while the upper shaft is 1,067m long and uncontrolled. There are three 634m spillway tunnels, each 12m in diameter. The plant cost about R$ 1bn and took about 4yrs to build. It is named after President Juscelino Kubitschek. The site is on the Rio Jequitinhonha between the municipalities of Grão Mogol and Berilo. Construction started in Apr 2002 and the last unit commissioned in Oct 2006.
