Quick facts: Plant development was started by Cia Central Brasileira de Força Elétrica (later Eletrobrás). When the new power station went into operation at 123 MW, it fulfilled the state's electricity requirement for a time. In 2000, the plant was upgraded to its present capacity by GE Hydro Inepar, which is also building a 51-MW fourth unit. The plant is connected to the grid at 230kV.
