Quick facts: In Oct 2007, construction got underway on the Laohuzui power station. River closure was in Mar 2008, and, in July 2011, Laohuzui
was completed. The 79m high, 256m long Laohuzui Dam is the tallest dam in Tibet. Average production is expected to be about 500 GWh, or around
20% of present demand in Tibet. This station was a leading energy project of the "11th-Five-Year-Plan" period and required a total
investment of Rmb 1,288mn.
