Bukhtaminskaya Location: Kazakhstan Operator: Samruk-Energo JSC Configuration: 9 X 83 MW Operation: 1960-1965 T/G supplier: LMZ, Elsib, NTGZ Quick facts: This power station is on the Irtysh river just upstream of the town of Serebryansk. The plant, operated under long-term concession, is integrated into the national electricity system. Charvakskaya Location: Uzbekistan Operator: Uzbekenergo Configuration: 4 X 150 MW Francis Operation: 1970-1972 T/G supplier: LMZ, Electrosila EPC: HPI Central Aisa, Uzbekhydroenergostroy Quick facts: This is the largest HPP in Uzbekistan. The dam is on the River Chirchik 70km from Tashkent. In Dec 2010, Turboatom was contracted to reconstruct parts of the plant. The 168m dam is rock and earthfill. Construction began in 1963. Karatal Location: Kazakhstan Operator: Kazzinc Configuration: 3 X 3.6 MW Operation: 1963 T/G supplier: Hentz Quick facts: After 60yrs, the Tekeli lead and zinc mine was closed in 2003. The local power plants, a 24-MW CHP plant and this small hydroelectric station, cover the full electricity and heat requirements of the Tekeli concentrator and other Kazzinc-owned production facilities in town, with the balance sold to the municipalities of Tekeli and Taldy-Kurgan. Mingechevir Location: Azerbaijan Operator: Azerenerji Configuration: 6 X 70 MW Francis Operation: 1953-2000 T/G supplier: LMZ, Electrosila EPC: Bakhydroproject Quick facts: The Mingechevir earth dam created a 605kmē reservoir 70km long. Two irrigation canals originate from the reservoir, the 172km Upper Qarabag Channel and the 123km Upper Sirvan Channel which in combination irrigate some 1mn ha of land in Mil, Mugan and Sirvan. This was the one of the largest construction projects in the immediate post-War period in the Soviet Union with about 20,000 workers, including about 10,000 German POWs. Moinak Location: Kazakhstan Operator: Kazzinc Configuration: 3 X 150 MW Pelton Operation: 2012 T/G supplier: Andritz, Harbin EPC: Almatygidroproekt, Kerneu Ltd, China International Water & Electric Corp Quick facts: Moinak is on the Charyn River in Raiymbek Region, Almaty Province. Estimated production is 1,027 GWh/yr. The contract value was $360mn, of which $200mn was financed by China National Development Bank and the balance by Kazakhstan National Development Bank. Nemnovskaya Location: Belarus Operator: Grodnoenergo Configuration: 5 X 3.6 MW pit Operation: 2012 T/G supplier: Mavel EPC: Marvestan Group Quick facts: In Jul 2009, Mavel signed a contract to provide electromechanical equipment for this greenfield, low-Hhead SHP on the Neman River 8km Grodno City. Financing was provided by the Czech Export Bank. Ech 3m diameter turbine utilizes the head of 7 meters and flow of 60 cms. Osipovichi Location: Belarus Operator: Mogilevenergo Configuration: 3 X 725 kW Operation: 1953 T/G supplier: ?? Quick facts: This is the largest installed hydroelectric plant in Belarus. Construction began in 1946 at an old watermill site on the River Svisloch. The plant was put online in Nov 1953. Normal waterflow is only sufficient for two sets. The plant is under reconstruction.
