Quick facts: In Nov 2005, Acres International completed environmental and siting work for the Palomino HPP near the towns of Bohechio and Arroyo Cano, at the confluence of the Blanco and Yaque del Sur rivers. The environmental work was funded by the Canadian International Development Agency and refined a scheme first outlined in a 1989 prefeasibility study. This project includes a dam and small reservoir on the Rio Blanco and Rio Yaque del Sur at Boca de los Rios, a 11.9km HRT connecting to a 280m long vertical penstock to a new underground powerhouse, and a 1.5km long tailrace tunnel to the Rio Grande. The $400mn project was inaugurated by President Fernandez in Aug 2012.

Quick facts: The Pinalito scheme has a 52m tall, 207m long RCC dam, an 11km HRT, another 3km of side tunnels connecting three other catchements, and a surface powerhouse. A 23km, 69kV line connects to the Bonao II substation.

Quick facts: This plant is in the upper Rio Yuna basin and uses water from the Blanco and Tireo rivers and the streams Arroyon and Tireito. Annual output is about 108 GWh. The plant cost $95mn.
