Quick facts: This HPP is in the Bisri River Basin. It draws water from the Abd El Al PS diverted into the 17km Awali tunnel, which crosses Jabal Niha-Jezzineand and terminates at Anan Lake. A steel penstock connects to the Arqash powerhouse. This is the most important HPP in the country in terms of production and water resource utilization, serving as the balancing facility for the three Litani power stations.

Charles Helou

Quick facts: This HPP use water from the Awali Pond, filled with tailwater from Awali PS plus water from the Bisri River. The 6.8km Joun tunnel runs to the Helou penstock.

Ibrahim Abd El Al

Quick facts: This HPP has an underground powerhouse at 660m elevation. Water is supplied from Qaraoun lake via the 6.4km Markaba tunnel along the right riverbank. The plant is named from a prominent Lebanese engineer who originat the Litani water resources scheme. In 1955, he was appointed Director General for Water and Electrical Affairs for the GOL.
