Quick facts: In May 2002, CFE began preparations for tendering this plant on the Rio Santiago. Bids were invited in Sep 2002, and in Mar 2003, a consortium led by ICA won the tender with a bid of $748mn. This was the first EPC contract for a hydroelectric plant under Mexico’s financed public works program. Equipment was manufactured in Brazil, Russia, and Ukraine. The dam is 640m long and 178m high.
