Quick facts: The original plant owner, state company Generadora Hidroelectrica SA (HIDROGESA), was put up for sale, but the sale was cancelled in 2002. Carlos Fonseca uses waster from Embalse de La Virgen conveyed by a 2.7km channel and a 186m penstock. The two units went commercal in mid-1972.

Quick facts: This HPP is downstream of Centroamerica. It was financed by Banco Centroamericano para la Integración Económica (BCIE), the Spanish government, and by internal funds.. The project has a 5ha reservoir and 2.4km water tunnel, The total investment was $66.1mn.

Quick facts: This HPP Santa Maria de Pantasma.has a small reservoir on the Rio Pantasma formed by a 131m long concrete spillway dam. Water is supplied by a low pressure, 818m tunnel to a surge tank and a 3,386m tunnel runs from there to the powerhouse. Gross head is 400m. Construction started In 2011 and operation began in Jul 2013.
