Quick facts: The Candeo minihydro plant uses water is diverted from the Beca River, in the Douro River basin. The plant went online in Dec 2008 and has a 14.8m dam forming a 4ha reservoir, low pressure circuit, surge tank, penstock and the powerhouse with a single horizontal turbine. Canedo was named 2009 ‘Best Small Hydro Plant’ by the readers of International Water Power & Dam Construction.
