Quick facts: This plant in Sainte-Rose accounts for 60% of the hydrorlectricity in Reunion. It uses waters from Piton de la Fournaise giving a head of 800m. Water is collected and passes through a 4km HRT to 4 large steel storage tanks, a unique feature. Another 4.5km pipe goes to the powerhouse. The first two sets were inaugurated in Sep 1980. The third unit was added about 30yrs later at cost of €25mn.
