Quick facts: This is the first power station on the River Indalsälven below Lake Storsjön and the first generation at the site began in 1894. Average output from this plant is 130 GWh/yr. In Sep 2010, Jamtkraft announced they would add two new units at Hissmofors, which is 20km northwest of Östersund.

Quick facts: At completion, the Kaplan turbine built as Unit-1 was the world's largest. Two Lawaczeck turbines were then added, one later changed out for a propeller turbine, and the plant completed in 1982 with a 13-MW bulb turbine.

Olidan

Quick facts: Olidan on the Göta älv River in Trollhättan, was the first large-scale hydroelectric plant in Sweden and its construction and operation led to the founding of the company that later became Vattenfall. Three of the original turbines are retired having been scavenged for parts. Architect Erik Josephson designed the Olidan power plant in Trollhättan to look like a castle and an upper balcony was added to give Maj Vilhelm Hansen, head of the Trollhättan Canal Co, and King Gustav V a good view of the inauguration ceremony.
