Quick facts: The Keban Dam was the first of the large dams to be built on the Euphrates River. It created a reservoir extending 50km upriver and 100km upriver in the Murat River valley to the east. The Murat joins the Euphrates about 7km north of the dam.

Quick facts: In Feb 2011, Darenhes Elektrik Uretimi AS, a JV of of Bilgin Enerji Yatirim Holding AS and Limak Yatirim, signed contracts with Andritz Hydro for the supply of electromechanical equipment for the Pembelik (2 X 66 MW) and Tatar (2 X 67 MW) hydropower plants on the Peri River on the border of Elaz─▒g and Tunceli provinces. Pembelik is located upstream and Tatar downstream of the existing 60-MW Seyrantepe HPP, also owned and operated by Darenhes. Tatar has a 74m clay-filled dam . Andritz supplied the T/G sets, and transformers as well as the complete electrical equipment including automation and 161kV switchyards. Preliminary construction by Limak started in 2010 and the first set was declared ready for operation in Nov 2013 followed by the second a month later. Electricity output from the multipurpose project is expected to be about 369 GWh/yr.
