Quick facts: This is the fifth stage of the hydro cascade on the Dnieper
River. Construction started in 1927 and ten 56-MW units were put online
between 1932 and 1939. During World War II, the plant was
completely destroyed. Reconstruction began in 1944 and the first
rebuilt unit went online in in March 1947. In April 1972,
construction started on the second phase plant.

halted in 1994 due to lack of funding.
