Quick facts: This is the fifth stage of the hydro cascade on the Dnieper River. Construction started in 1927 and ten 56-MW units were put online between  1932 and 1939.  During World War II, the plant was completely destroyed.  Reconstruction began in 1944 and the first rebuilt unit went online in in March 1947.  In April 1972, construction started on the second phase plant.

Quick facts: This is the second stage of the hydro cascade on the Dnieper River. Annual output is about 970 GWh.  Plant rehabilitation is underway with World Bank funding. Construction was started on a 3.6-GW pumped-storage plant nearby, but the project was halted in 1994 due to lack of funding.
