Quick facts: This HPP is at Markland Locks and Dam on the Ohio River. The L&D project was approved by the Secretary of the Army in Mar 1953. Lock construction began in Mar 1956 and completed in May 1959. Dam construction began in Apr 1959 and was finished in Jun 1964.The powerhouse is in Florence, Switzerland Co. This was Public Service Indiana's first hydroelectrc plant. In Mar 2016, Duke was permissioned to replace the T/G sets in a $152mn project, due to complete in 2020.

Twin Branch Dam

Quick facts: This HPP was originally bult by St Joseph & Elkhart Power Co, formed to construct a dam and powerhouse 3mi east of Mishawaka, upstream of the confluence of Twin Branch Creek and the St Joseph River. The 23.2ft high, 402ft long gravity dam is of earthen construction, timber crib, and completed on 16 Dec 1903. The following year, the project became the propety of Michigan Co and, in 1907, by successor company Indiana and Michigan Electric Co.
