Shawmut Dam Location: ME Operator: FPL Energy Configuration: 5 X 750 kW, 1 X 900 kW, 2 X 2 MW Operation: 1913-1982 T/G supplier: AC, GE, Siemens Allis Quick facts: The original plant was built by Shawmut Manufacturing Co and acquired by Central Maine Power in 1924. Acquired with other assets by FPL from Central Maine Power Co in Apr 1999.

West Enfield Location: ME Operator: Black Bear Hydro Partners LLC Configuration: 2 X 11.4 MW bulb Operation: 1988 T/G supplier: Voith EPC: Oak Ridge Associates Quick facts: Bangor Pacific Hydro Associates financed and built this low-head hydro facility on the Penobscot River at West Enfield. The $40mn project was completed ahead of schedule and won the Maine Engineering Excellence Grand Conceptor Award. A half share in the project was later acquired by PPL Corp, which agreed to sell the stake to an Arc Light Capital affiliate in Jul 2009.

Wyman Dam Location: ME Operator: FPL Energy Configuration: 3 X 24 MW Operation: 1930-1940 T/G supplier: AC, GE Quick facts: The $7mn Wyman hydro scheme was by far the biggest construction project undertaken in Maine to that date. It is named for Walter S Wyman, then president of Central Maine Power and already over 30 years into his power company and public service career. Acquired with other assets by FPL from Central Maine Power Co in Apr 1999.
