Greenup

Quick facts: The powerhouse is on the Ohio side of the USACE Greenup lock and dam system opened in 1961. The entire generating structure is a watertight, steel-plate enclosure constructed in dry dock at St Nazaire, France. Quick facts: Twin 56ft x 360ft lock chambers and a gated dam were operational in 1934. A new 110ft x 800ft lock chamber was authorized by the Water Resources Development Act of 1996. In 2002, property acquisitions and relocations were complete and the $333mn lock construction contract was awarded.

Willow Island

Quick facts:
Willow Island Locks and Dam are near St Marys, Pleasant County, 162 river miles downstream of Point Bridge in Pittsburgh. The Willow Island project is under construction on the West Virginia side of the Ohio River, on the opposite shore of the locks. The project diverts water from the existing USACE Willow Island Locks and Dam to supply about 239 GWh/yr. A 1.6mi, 138kV transmission line connects to the PJM network. Unit-1 went commercial on 4 Jan 2016 and Unit-2 completeed the following month.
