Glen Ferris

Quick facts: In Jun 2010, Brookfield began a $25mn rehab of the historic Glen Ferris project located on the Kanawha River in the old company town of Glen Ferris. The original structure dates to 1899 and the hydropower works were shutdown in 2004. Brookfield bought the plant, along with the Hawks Nest hydroelectric plant, from Orkla AS in 2006. The work scope included generator rewinds by L&S, runner replacement by Kiser Hydro, LLC, conversion to 3-phase production, plus I&C and other electromechanical work. Contractors included DA Collins, Hatch Engineering, Nitro Electric Co, and Danhill Construction. The rehab project completed in Dec 2011.
