EPC: WH, Gibbs & Hill Quick facts: The BR-3 (Belgian Reactor-3) in Mol was the first PWR in Europe and used as a protoype for future projects. It was definitely shut down on 30 Jun 1987 at the conclusion of its operating license. Doel Location: Belgium Operator: Electrabel Configuration: 2 X 433 MW, 1 X 1,056 MW, 1 X 1,041 MW PWR Operation: 1975-1985 Reactor supplier: ACEC, Framatome T/G supplier: Tosi, Alsthom EPC: Traction-Electrique, Franki, Engema, Association Momentanee de Genie Civil, Tijdeliijke Vereniging Burgelliijke Bouwkude Quick facts: Doel has an 80ha site on the Scheld tin Beveren, East Flanders. The 176m tall cooling towers are easily visible from the Port of Antwerp and from the Dutch frontier provinces. The small units at Doel are scheduled to close in 2015. GKN (Dodewaard) Location: Netherlands Operator: NV Gemeenschappelijke Kernenergiecentrale Nederland Configuration: 1 X 55 MW BWR Operation: 1969 (ret 1997) Reactor supplier: GE T/G supplier: Stork, Smit-ACEC Westinghouse Quick facts: GKN was fomred in 1965 to build this small BWR and criticality was reached in 1968. The unit was commissioned on 26 Mar 1969 by HM Queen Juliana. Power production stopped on 26 Mar 1997, exactly 28yrs later.

Tihange Location: Belgium Operator: Electrabel Configuration: 1 X 1,009 MW, 2 X 1,055 MW PWR Operation: 1975-1985 Reactor supplier: ACEC, Cockerill, Westinghouse, Framatome T/G supplier: Alsthom, Rateau, BBC, ACEC EPC: EDF, Electrabel, Cie d'Enterprises CFE Quick facts: Tihange has an 75ha site on the on the right bank of the Meuse River in Huy, Liege.
