Akosombo Dam
This stamp was issued by Ghana in 1966 to commemorate completion of the first four sets at the Akosombo hydroelectric power station, then and now the largest and most important power plant in the county.

Aliveri
This stamp was issued by Greece as part of a 7-stamp set published in 1962 to commemorate electricity production. Aliveri was an early lignite-fired power plant, now partially retired and switched to fuel oil.

Chashma
Issued on 29 Mar 2001 to commemorate Unit-1 at Chashrna nuclear power plant (Chasnupp). The 325-MW unit was built by China National Nuclear Corp for the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission and went to full power on 15 Sep 2000.

Fossvaerket
The Faroe Islands power company Elektricitetsselskabet SEV has a number of small hydro plants. This stamp was issued in 2001 to commemorate the 6.3-MW Fossvaerket plant completed from 1953-1956.

Hoover Dam
On 30 Sep 1935, President Franklin Roosevelt and Secretary of the Interior Harold Ickes came to Black Canyon, Nevada, for the dedication of the Hoover Dam, previously know as Boulder Dam. That same day, this stamp was issued at the Boulder City post office.

Hoover Dam
On 20 Jun 2008, the USPS issued this Hoover Dam Express Mail stamp. The stamp was designed by Carl T Herman of Carlsbad, CA, and artwork was by Dan Cosgrove, Chicago, IL.

Inota
This stamp was issued in Jul 1952 as part of Hungary's "Buildings of the Five-Year Plan" series. Construction of the 92-MW, Inota coal-fired power station in Veszprem began in spring 1950 and the first unit was connected in Dec 1951 . On 27 Dec 2001 at 00:00 hours every member of the workforce left the station and it was closed.

Itaipu
On 6 May 2011, Brazilian Post released its "Diplomatic Relations Series" including this issue commemorating the 200th annivrsary of the independence of the Republic of Paraguay by featuring a key project showing the economic integration of Brazil and Paraguay. Itaipu is now the second largest power plant in the world, but held the first spot from the late 1980s until China's Three Gorges surpassed it in size. Construction at Itaipu began in Feb 1971 and the first set went commercial on 5 May 1984. Two more units were added in 2006/07, bring the plant to tts current capacity of 14,750 MW.

Jaruga
The 1.1-MW Jaruga SHP in Croatia was one of the world's first AC power plants. The site is on the Krka River, in Šibenik-Knin county, in central Dalmatia. It is still in use today with electromechanical equipment upgrades in the mid-1930s, the late 1950s, and most recently in 2003. This 3,6kn stamp was issued by HP on 28 Aug 1995 to commemorate Jaruga's first electricity transmission to Sibenik via an 11km, 3kV line. Original project construction by Ante Šupuk i sin began in 1893 and lasted 16mos. It was carried out by local builders and craftsmen.

JRR-1
Japan issued this stamp in 1957 to commemorate the launch of JRR-1, an experimental research reactor at the country's nuclear R&D site in Tokai-mura, located 110km northeast of Tokyo in Ibaraki prefecture. This was originally an L-54 low-power reactor built by General Atomics. The reactor began operations on 27 Aug 1957 and was decommissionned in Mar 1970.

Longoni
Mayotte postal authorities issued this stamp on 12 Jan 2009 to commemorate completeion of Electricite de Mayotte's new 39-MW Wartsila diesel power plant. The site is at Longoni Port.

Mangla Dam
In 1952, the World Bank first became involved with India and Pakistan in establishing a water resource program for the Indus River and its five tributary rivers, one of the world’s great river system descending from the high Himalayas to the plains of West Pakistan and northwestern India. After six years of discussions and negotiations, the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 was signed by India, Pakistan and the Bank. In 1964, the expansive $1.3bn Indus Basin Development Fund Agreement was consummated. One of the two large dams in the project is the Mangla Dam on the Jhelum River, inaugurated on 23 Nov 1967. To celebrate the achievement, Pakistan issued this fifteen paisa stamp showing the spillway with the insignia of WAPDA (the Water and Power Development Authority of West Pakistan), which was created in 1958 to plan and execute the project.

Sakuma Dam
This stamp was issued by the Japanese Ministry of Posts and Telecommunication on 15 Oct 1956 to commemorate the Sakuma Dam in Shizuoka Prefecture. The plant has four 88-MW turbines installed and is operated by J-Power.

Shatura
The first peat-fired unit at the Shatura plant opened in 1925. This stamp was issued by Russia in 1955 to commemorate the plant's 30th Anniversary. The site is about 130km from Moscow and now has about 1,000 MW of gas-fired capacity.

Sultan Mahmud (Kenyir)
On 13 Jul 1987, Malaysia's Postal Services Dept issued two stamps to mark the official opening of the 400-MW Sultan Mahmud power station at Kenyir, Terengganu. The plant was named for Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah, the Sultan of Terengganu. This is the 20-sen issue.

Volkhov
