Quick facts: Phase I of the 50-MW Allhorn solar park has about 80,000 modules and was built from Oct to Dec 2011. It opened in Mar 2012 and was followed by 32 MW of additional capacity by year-end. The 96ha site comprises a portion of the old Alhlorh airfield first opened in 1916 and operated in various forms until 2005, when it was converted to a technology park. A total of 218,000 PV modules were installed, making Ahlhorn the largest solar plant in NI.
