Quick facts: Itabo is the lowest-cost thermal plant in the DR. The genco is controlled by AES Corp, which owns a 50% stake. The balance is owned by the DR's Fondo Patrimonial de la Empresa Pública Reformada with 0.03% held by ex-CDE employees. Oever the last 10yrs or so, the operating company has spent about $200mn in upgrades and improvements and the plant supplied 1,486 GWh to the grid in 2009, recording plant availability of 83%.
