Quick facts: In Aug 2006, first concrete was poured for these two units
and the plant entered commercial operation in Dec 2007. These are
air-cooled units with ESPs, wet limestone scrubbers, low-Nox combustion
systems, and zero water discharge. The site in Gangu County, Tianshui
Prefecture, was originally built in 1969 with two 12-MW units, closed
in June 2007.

1995 to develop this minemouth plant. Ownership is by SDIC (51.22%), Meiya Power (30.73%), Gansu
Electric Investment Co Ltd (15.37%) and China Guodian Corp (2.68%). The first
two units were uprated from 300 MW.

Quick facts: Unit-4 completed its 168hr run on 24 Apr 2011, 8mos ahead of
schedule after 25mos of construction. This is now the largest thermal
power plant in Northwest China. The 1,060-MW, ultrasupercritical sets were
the largest air-cooled units built to date.

Pingliang-1

Quick facts: This large mine-mouth plant is in Ershilipu, Pingliang, the
border region between Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia. The plant was initially
developed by a JV of China Northeast Power Group (55%), Gansu Power
Construction Investment Corp (35%) and Gansu Provincial Power Corp (10%).
In Jan 2005, Huaneng Power assumed management control. Phase-I of the
power plant covers an area of 64ha and cost Rmb 5.18bn. Construction on
the first pair of units started in Jun 1998 and they went commercial on 6
Sep 2000 and 30 Jun 2001, respectively. Construction on the second pair of
units began in May 2001 and they came online on 5 Jun 2003 and 30 Nov
2003, respectively. Two 600-MW, air-cooled units were added to the site in
2010.

Quick facts: In Mar 2009, Shandong Luneng began construction on these supercritical, air-cooled units in Lingwu County, Yinchuan City. Unit-1 went commercial on 30 Dec 2010 and Unit-2 was put into operation on 26 Jun 2011. The project connects to the Ningdong-Shandong ±660kV HVDC transmission line.
