Unit-1 went commercial on 31 Jul 2016 and Unit-2 followed on 28 Nov 2016. The 190m tall, seawater natural draft towers at this PS were said to be the third tallest in the world at completeion. The site is 120ac.

Quick facts: In Jan 2010, NDRC approved the first phase of the Laizhou PS with two 1,000-MW USC units. The Rmb 7.2mn project was China's first to be entirely designed digitally. The site is on Laizhou Bay, 8km east of Laizhou Port, and connects to the 500kV regional grid. Two more 1,000-MW units are planned as a second phase and the Laizhou site is sized for up to eight similar sets.

Quick facts: Huaneng Dezhou PS, originally known as Hualu, is about 4km west of Dezhou City center in northwest Shandong. Construction on the first phase began in Aug 1989 and the two units went commercial in Jul and Dec 1991, respectively The next two sets started construction in May 1992 and they completed in Dec 1993 and Nov 1994, respectivley. In Dec 1998, the U.S.Ex-Im Bank made a loan guarantee supporting the sale of two 660-MW T/G sets and related equipment from GE to expand the plant. The U.S. Ex-Im Bank guaranteed a loan by Citibank International PLC, London, with 12yr repayment terms, starting with the completion of the project. The borrower, China Construction Bank, was supported by the credit of the Chinese government. The total Phase-3 project cost was $930mn. Phase-3 began construction Sep 1999 and the first unit started operation ahead of schedule in Jun 2002, followed by the second unit in Oct 2002.
