Quick facts: This extra-large TPP is at at Beilungang in the Beilun Special Economic Zone near the deepwater port of Ningbo City. The three in Phase-II were synchronized in Dec 1998, Nov 1999, and May 2000, and went commercial in Oct 2000, about 8mos ahead of schedule. In Nov 2004, an EPC consortium began construction on a program to retrofit each unit with a Tiandi FGD scrubber. Zhejiang Electric Power Construction Engineering Co was owner’s engineer for the program, which completed in Jul 2007. In Jan 2014, Unit-3 became the first unitin China to uprate from 600 MW to 660 MW following an extensive turbine and boiler modifications. Also, the unit's load following capability was enhanced.

Quick facts: Huaneng Yuhuan is at Xiaqingtang on the southeast coast of Zhejiang in the Damaiyu Development Zone, Yuhuan County. The 110ha site was previously farm land and beachfront. These USC units have steam conditions of 263 bar with 600C temperature and reheat. The State Council approved the plant feasibility study in Dec 2003 and Unit-1 went commercial on 28 Nov 2006, the largest thermal unit in China. Total plant cost at the time was estimated to be Rmb 8.498bn. Emerson Process supplied an Ovation digital control system for the plant, which has precipitators from Feida, and wet limestone FGD systems from CPI Yuanda.

Quick facts: In Jul and Dec 1995, respectively, two 300-MW coal-fired units were completed at this coastal site in Jiaxing Town, Pinghu City, about 20km west of Shanghai. The project cost about Rmb 3bn, of which 70% was contributed by Zhejiang Energy Group and 30% by Zhejiang Electric Power Corp. In Jun 2001, work started on Phase-II with four 600-MW units. The project was invested by Zhejiang Energy Group (53%), Zhejiang Southeast Electric Power (24%), and Shenhua Guohoa Electric Power (20%). Project approval was received in De 2002. The first two completed in Jul and Dec 2004, respectively, and Units 3&4, which came online in May and Oct 2005, respectively, all ahead of schedule. The second phase cost about Rmb 11bn with most of the funding being provided by State Construction Bank and Industrial Commercial Bank of China. In Aug 2009, construction started on Phase-III with two, 1,000-MW USC units. These cost about Rmb 7.89bn. Unit-1 went commercial on 23 Jun 2011, The construction period of 22mos and 6 days was said to be a record for 1-GW units. Crews often worked round the clock, seven days a week according to press reports.

This facility is on an 1,800ac site in Lanxi County, Jinhua Prefecture, and was the first large-scale coal plant serving the central and western inland areas of Zhejiang. Total project investment was Rmb 10.6bn.
