In the fall of 2004, an €8mn joint venture with forest products group Metso Paper got underway to supply and prepare biomass for co-combustion at Polaniec.

Quick facts: Plant development began in 1949, but construction did not get underway until 1958. In 1961, the plant went online and began to supply electricity and heat to the southern part of Warsaw and the plant was extensively modernized in the late 1990s. Total is capacity is 620 MWe and 2,014 MWt.
