Quick facts: The first generating units at Compostilla I went online in 1945. The Unit-3 T/G set was MHI's first major power equipment sale into Spain. In May 2005, Endesa contracted with Inerco to install new combustion control systems at Compostilla and in Jan 2006, MHI received orders for FGD systems for Units 4&5. MHI and Duro Felguera will install the FGD equipment by 2008.

Quick facts: This is one of only a handful of pressurized fluidized-bed combustion units in the world.
The plant uses a 63-MW PFBC boiler and a 17-MW gas turbine. The local lignite has 5% sulphur and about 25% ash.
