Quick facts: MAEK-Kazatomprom resulted from the acquisition of the
former Mangistauski Nuclear Power Combine (MAEK) which includes three
thermal power stations, the retired NPP, and a desalination plant along
with related equipment and installations. The company is a 100% subsidiary of Kazatomprom and supplies heat, electricity, and potable water for
the Aktau and Mangistau regions.

Quick facts: This supercritical set is essentially the last of a string
of 800-MW machines supplied by LMZ. Four
units were planned for the site on the KMK Canal when development started
in 1984. Construction stalled for
a time after the collapse of the Soviet Union and restarted in 1994. Kvartz came on the job in 1998 and a second unit was started.
It may not be completed. Future additions at Tolimarjon are likely to be CCGT
plants. Two
450-MW blocks were tendered in Nov 2010.
