Quick facts: Hämeenlinna is said to be the first condensing power plant
built in Finland. In 1980 it was converted to CHP operation
and in 1989 a Frame 6 gas turbine was installed. Finally, the coal-grate
boiler was replaced by a BFB boiler in 1998. A 10,000 cu m thermal storage tank is installed.

Quick facts: Project development began in Nov 2005 and Keljonlahti
was approved in May 2007 after various legal proceedings. There are 10
power companies partnering in the project. Excavation began in Jan 2008
and steam blows for the CFB boiler were completed in Nov 2009. When completed, this will be
one of the largest peat and wood-fired generating units in the world.
Architects were KVA Arkkitehdeille Oy. The stack is 130m high.

Quick facts: Converted to BFB operation in 1993. Main fuel is milled
peat with about 30% of heat input from forest wood chips and sawmilll waste
in central Finland. The plant supplies electricity, district heating to the
city of Jyvasklya, and process steam for the M-Real Pangas paper mill. Heat
from the DHS system return is supplied to Viherlandia, a nearby greenhouse.
In Jul 2012, Metso was contracted for an extensive automation renewal project at Rauhalahti to complete in fall 2013.
