Quick facts:
This power station is on Aliveri Bay 65km northeast of Athens. A now-closed 4km rail line was built
from the Agios Loukas mine area north of the plant to deliver lignite to
fuel the plant. After the
local mining industry wound down, the Aliveri
plant was changed over to fuel oil. A new CCGT block is being built at the site
for service in 2010.
