Quick facts: In Jun 1956, construction got underway on the first set at Dzerzhinskaya. This went online on 13 Oct 1961 with twin boilers and a single 65-MW T/G. The first stage was completed by 1966 (1 X 50-MW and 1 X 60-MW). In 1968, the Ministry of Power Engineering was directed to expand the plant and from 1970-1979, peaking, power, and hot water boilers were completed along with 50- and 110-MW steam sets. More boilers were added thereafter along with a 135-MW steam set in 1984. In the early 1990s, several of the old units were rebuilt or reconstructed. Finally, in 1993-94 Siemens was retained to build a 195-MW, 1+1 gas-fired CCGT block. This project lapsed until 2004 when it was renewed and the new equipment was completed in 2005/06 along with a new gas supply pipeline. On 1 Oct 2007, Dzerzhinskaya TETS ended its existence as an independent legal entity and was subsumed in TGK-6.
