Kahe Location: HI Operator: Hawaiian Electric Co Configuration: 2 X 82 MW, 2 X 90 MW, 2 X 142 MW Operation: 1963-1981 Fuel: fuel oil Boiler supplier: B&W, CE T/G supplier: GE, WH EPC: Bechtel, Stearns-Roger Quick facts: This is the largest and most important power plant in Hawaii.

Waiau Location: HI Operator: Hawaiian Electric Co Configuration: 2 X 50 MW, 2 X 54 MW, 2 X 82 MW Operation: 1947-1968 Fuel: fuel oil Boiler supplier: B&W, CE T/G supplier: WH EPC: Bechtel Quick facts: The first 8-MW unit at Waiau went online in 1938 and an 18-MW set was added in 1940. The plant also has two 51-MW combustion turbines. The plant is in Pearl City and was forced offline by the attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 Dec 1941 when bomb concussions disabled plant auxiliaries. For some time thereafter, plant operators slept at the plant.

It was formerly known as Hilo Electric Light.
