Quick facts: This project in East Chicago uses 16 HRSGs behind a coke battery to supply a single T/G set and up to 920,000 pph of process steam . Project participants include Primary Energy, thermal host ArcelorMittal's Indiana Harbor East mill, and SunCoke Energy, owner and operator of the coke battery. This is said to be a first-of-its-kind CHP project using waste heat recovered from non-recovery coke batteries. Cokenergy can supply up to a quarter of ArcelorMittal's total electrical requirements or more than half of its process steam needs. The facility can also supply up to 1,000 gpm of RO water.

Quick facts: This project in East Chicago has a single boiler buring BFG from blast furnaces 3&4 at ArcelorMittal's Indiana Harbor West mill. The unit went online in Dec 2002 and can supply up to 460,000 pph of steam along with electricity. The original contract was signed In Nov 1999 between LTV Steel and NiSource Inc subsidiary Primary Energy Inc.
